WHAT WE'RE CURRENTLY TEACHING

HIGH SCHOOL

Safer Choices is our program for 9th and 10th graders in Harrisonburg and Page County with a primary focus on reducing the number of high school students who engage in sexual intercourse, and increasing safe sex practices among those who do. Read more about Safer Choices on our projects page.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Draw the Line/Respect the Line is our program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County and Page County with a primary focus of helping students choose to postpone sex and how to set limits to sexual behavior.  Read more about Draw The Line/Respect the Line on our projects page.

WHO IS CURRENTLY TEACHING MY TEEN

Katie Mitchell earned her bachelor's degree from James Madison University in 1996. Prior to working for JMU, she worked as a public school teacher for 18 years. She also has experience writing instructional materials and slice-of-life articles for various magazines. 

 

She enjoys traveling, spending time with her two children, volunteering in the community, and writing for her blog, ilovemyburg.com.
